Hello! Hello! It’s been awhile since I’m actually posted on my site. I’m trying to be better about providing content that will and can be transformative to the way that you make decisions for your personal style and wardrobe. With that said, I’m excited to start a series called Balancing Basics where I’ll share all the staples you need for any wardrobe and why it’s beneficial to own pieces like these!

A black blazer is a key piece for any woman whether you are in high school, college, just beginning your career or well-seasoned in your career. It’s a piece that can be worn a variety of ways and something you will naturally want to grab for when you get the email or call that you have an interview/Zoom call with a company for the job of your dreams. Now, let’s talk about why it’s so essential.

1.) Its Effortless & Professional: Professionalism is a must in career endeavors; whatever they may be. You want people to take you seriously. Dressing the part is half the battle in this. If you look good and feel good then that confidence naturally exudes. Who doesn’t love a person that’s confident and knows how to articulate exactly what they want and looks like a boss while doing it?! Know that you also need to keep it professional by either buttoning the blazer up or layering it with a solid color tank or tee. Or a printed blouse/tank but you just have to be careful with what patterns you choose to pair with- I’m thinking I’ll do a post on this later!

2.) Can Be Worn a Variety of Ways: A black blazer is an investment piece that I guarantee you’ll get your money’s worth. This is a piece that can be paired back to black trousers, to other solid color trousers, a great pair of denim, a midi skirt, over top a dress, etc. The possibilities with this piece are literally endless. If you are just entering into Corporate America during times like we are living in now you may be taking lots of Zoom calls and you still want to look the professional part. Dress for the job that you want ALWAYS. Throwing on a black blazer for these calls is so easy and comfortable.

3.) Timeless & Classic: It’s a piece that will never go out of style. Trust me on this one. I love that fashion is starting to be more geared toward the bare minimum and styling with pieces that can be reused and recycled for years to come. There are multiple fits to the black blazer: a more fitted look and a slouchier more loose dad blazer. I think it’s important to own both fits so that you can wear according to different scenarios. I suggest investing in a brand that makes good quality clothing so that you don’t have to replace for another 10 years a least. I’ve linked a couple of my favorites below- all super affordable.

I hope that you found this helpful! If you every have any questions that are styling related please feel free to reach out! I’m excited about this series and how it will help you build a sustainable wardrobe!
